“We are confident of attaining the numbers, we only need 38 ODM members before we seek consensus with others to be successful,” he said.

Migori has a total of 57 MCAs and two thirds needed to pass the motion stands at 38. Here is how they are distributed:

  • Total MCAs- 57
  • ODM – 41
  • Independents- 7
  • Jubilee – 5
  • Ford Kenya – 3
  • DP – 1

For the motion to pass, these are the figures needed:

  • Two thirds or 38 MCAs for impeachment motion to pass through
  • 19 MCAs for Pro-Obado MCAs to floor it
  • Only 19 or 1/3 MCAs needed to table it in assembly

Mbadi said during the Monday meeting attended by 37 ODM MCAs, five completely refused to sign or be part of the impeachment drive.

Mbadi and Makaong’o said the decision to impeach Obado was from the party and members should follow it.

Central Kanyamkago MCA Alex Akugo, elected on ODM ticket took to his social media profile to insist the motion had no merit.

While Jubilee has 5 members, three elected and two nominated a vocal ODM MCA from Kuria in a leaked video lamented the number may go down.

“When ODM approaches Jubilee for support, the two nominated MCAs afraid of being de-gazetted will sign the motion, we are not sure of the other three,” he is heard saying.

But Migori governor supporters have insisted the numbers being floated are a big hoax insisting only five MCAs have signed the motion.
