The mother of four who perished at Mabera, Kuria west in a Thursday night accident has appealed for more help despite receiving a donation from a local bank.

Equity Bank’s Migori branch issued the woman with a cheque of sh. 35,000 to help foot the bill she owed the hospital.

By Monday, Margaret Magutu owed shs. 29,500 to Akidiva Mabera Hospital but the bill was fast accumulating from one of her daughters was admitted at the hospital in critical condition.

According to the bank’s Migori branch manager Peter Akoyo, the woman needed support during this trying moment.

“We cannot reverse the loss that befell this mother but can only reduce the pain by giving the little we have,” Akoyo said.

But Samuel Nyamohanga, who chairs the burial committee for the four children said unknown people stole property from the house during the rescue.

Nyamohanda said the woman, who currently lives in a newly constructed house with no doors, needed more help.

“We appreciate all the help from the kindhearted people but the woman is in dire need of more help to enable her get through this trying time,” Nyamohanga said.

Akidiva Mabera hospital director Richard Chacha reiterated that the woman needed more help as one of her children, who survived the accident was still undergoing treatment at the facility.

“We treated and discharged her but was readmitted as she collapsed upon seeing the scene she survived,” Chacah said.

Magutu had a bill of sh. 36,500 even as Equity bank was donating their cheque.
