The scene of ugly accident

Four children died on the spot while one is nursing serious injuries after a sand ferrying lorry from Komosense to Mapera in Kuria West crushed into a building where they were asleep.

Julius Mwita the neighbour said he heard a deep heavy crush sound at around 23 hours but he opened the door he saw a lorry crushed into a building were the children were sleeping.

Mwita said the speeding lorry lost control and hit front of the building where five children were sleeping.
He wondered why the sand carrying trucks are left operating at night yet they are supposed to clear during day time.

Migori County Criminal Investigation Officer Benedict Kigen said police have launched a manhunt of the truck driver who disappeared after the incident.

“The lorry driver disappeared immediately after the incident and police are pursuing him,” Kigen said.

Kigen said the lorry lost control, hitting the building besides the road killing instantly four children and left one girl with serious injuries admitted at Akidiva hospital in Migori town.
