Kuria West MP Robi Should Solve Flooding Menace In Isebania Town- Sahia

Kuria West MP Mathias Robi has been told to help control flooding menace in Isebania town.

Wilson Mogesi Sahia, Kuria West MP aspirant, said for decades the town bordering Kenya and Tanzania has never been hit by flooding in residential areas until recently.

Sahia said several road projects especially those connecting the town center to estates along Border Point Hotel and another to Mali Ngumu areas from Main highway to Tanzania have aggreviated the menace.

“First contractors in these national government projects did not open diversions or plan with the heavy rains to unclog drainage system,” Sahia said.

On social media pages, residents sent several videos showing marooned homes and farms.

Speaking to Migori News, the politician said the end effect is homes and farms being marooned by flood waters with the ongoing heavy rains.

“We have received complaints from residents because the legislator is inaccessible and we will soon seek redress through other means,” Sahia said.

He accused Robi of only being seen in the area during funerals but in unavailable when needed as a local leader.

Samuel Nega, a resident around Border Point Hotel within Isebania town lamented that their houses have been marooned.

“I started living in Isebania way back in 1996 and I have never experienced flooding, what we are seeing is shocking,” Nega said.

He said they are afraid of contracting water bourne disease like cholera as sewerage have affected drinking water.

“Contractors left drainage blocked which has been made worse by heavy rains, we need urgent help,” Nega said.

He said as residents they are calling for leaders to help them get aid from government and other well wishers.

“Even people in Isebania are Kenyans and we want to feel part of this Kenya Kwanza government, we won’t only see donation in other areas while we are suffering,” he added
