Deputy President William Ruto received a warm welcome at Osiri gold mines on Saturday when he toured he region for last mile electricity connectivity.

A huge happy crowd turned up at the event with Hon. Ruto easily and freely interacting with them from Osiri Mixed Secondary School to the gold mines where the crowd jubilantly called him an hustler.

During the function, the DP visited the homes of Eunia Acholla and Juliet Owino who benefitted from the electricity connection.

Ruto gave Sh600,000 to Migori county commissioner Idd Matata and instructed him to work with local chiefs to ensure each widow gets four acres of land each.

“I want by next month the two widows to be moved to their new homes. Juliet also told me her eldest son is a candidate this year, I will pay his school fees to form four in a school of his choice,” he said.

He also gave Sh1million cash to build laboratory at Osiri Mixed Secondary School and promised additional amount later on.

During the tour here are other projects he said are on the pipeline.
Sh425miillion upgrade of the Migori County Referral Hospital to help equip an ICU unit, urology, cancer and radiography machines among others.

Sh320million upgrade of Kehancha District Hospital to referral status.

Sh10million to upgrade the Ketraco power lines from Sondu power station to Awendo to end frequent blackouts.

Quick work on Sh1.4billion Ndhiwa-Sori road which is 80 per cent completed

The Kehancha-Masara tarmac road which is 70 per cent done, and the completion of Masara-Muhuru Bay section which has been advertised and to roll out in 2-3 months.

To check on the progress of Masara-Sori road tarmacking which should be reviewed in about three months.

Sh50million last mile electricity project for Nyatike (Which was launched on Saturday) to increase connectivity to the national grid from the current 8 per cent of the population.

14,000 new title deeds for Nyatike which will be released soon

“We now need the area MP Edick Anyanga and Migori county governor Okoth Obado to ensure the projects are complimented by their CDF and county kitties,” he said.
