My name is Boke Mercy Nyamwitaga, from Kegonga in Kuria East.

I attended Nyabirongo primary school in Kuria West sub County in Migori County and scored 390 marks in last year’s Kenya Certificate of Primary Education exam.

I am supposed to join Bunyore Girls’ school in Vihiga county, but I may not join the school due to poverty.

I am under the care of a single mother, Rebecca Wegesa, who depends on peasant farming to fend for our family.

“My husband died three years ago and left me with five kids. Taking care of them is hard as I only depend on small scale farming. My daughter may not join the school she was called to join as I am not able to pay her school fees,” Ms. Wegesa told Migori News.

My family is now contemplating to let me repeat class seven as my mother is unable to raise money for fees.

“I don’t have anything at all. Teachers of my daughter are the ones who helped her to complete primary school. She would have dropped. The only alternative left for me is to let the girl repeat school as I look for money,” added Wegesa.

I dream of being a doctor when i grows up. However, lack of school fees might deter my dream.

“I have always wanted to become a doctor but I don’t know if this will be the case. I appeal for help from well wishers so as to achieve my dream,” Boke told Migori  News.
