Odege issues ultimatum to illegal miners to vacate Nyatike

Nyatike MP Tom Odege has asked all illegal miners in his constituency to vacate for peace to be restored in the area.

This followed complains from the locals that there was a group of foreign miners who had invaded the constituency and were mining illegally.

According to the locals a company allegedly owned by Chinese had come to the area and was disrupting the peace of the locals.

Speaker after speaker while addressing the MP at Osiri Juction in Nyatike, decried that the company was not working for the benefit of the locals.

The locals also said that the company was using chemicals and heavy blasting equipment that were gravely affecting them.

Odege threatened to lead an eviction of the illegal companies if they did not vacate the mines within 10 days.

“I am going to draft a letter to that company which will also be copied to local administration asking them to vacate before 24th of this month,” Odege said.

The Nyatike MP also promised to assist the local miners access licenses to help them in their mining activities.

Bondo MP Gideon Ochanda who was also present urged residents to support their MP  in developing Nyatike.
