The Independent Police Oversight Authority has already started investigations into the killing of a man from Kegonga in Kuria East by police over a game of billiards, ‘Ajua;’.

Under investigations is an administration police officer attached to Kegonga police division who shot dead Alex Omari Kimati at Kegonga market after allegedly disagreeing with the officer, identified as Kikwai, during a game of billiards.

“My husband was not a robber and if there are people who accused him of robbery and assault, why was he not arrested as the law requires,” Rael Robi Gituti, the wife of the deceased.

Jackson Ekerosi, his father said the only mistake their son committed was a disagreement with the police officer.

“It is wrong for a police officer to use his powers to settle a personal score with a civilian,” he said.

Kuria East OCPD Ahmed Abdikadir said the deceased was a notorious robber and had a number of assault cases. He also alleged the deceased resisted arrest on the day he was shot dead.

“The man resisted arrest and physically confronted the police officer, attempting to grab his firearm. That is when he shot him,” said Abdikadir.

Mwita Motangi, the Nyabasi East MCA said they will ensure justice is served.
