The Auditor General has exposed Migori MCAs who paid themselves illegally over Sh5.08million in a Mombasa trip where some carried their children and friends.

Auditor General report on the financial report of Migori County Assembly between July 1, 2013 to June 30, 2014 found that the amount was irregular paid and wants the affected leaders to pay back the money.

The assembly organised the workshop to amend standing orders and team building at Sai Rovk in Mombasa were it paid the full board.

During the trip the MCAs were paid per diems, despite full board, amounting to Sh4.5m while each was paid out of pocket allowance for Sh10,000 a night totaling to Sh610,00.

“Further, on close scrutiny of the hotel bills, it was noted that six additional people were paid for accommodation and meals,” the report said.

They were four adults and two children who took home Sh96,000.

“(The amount) should be recovered from affected officials,” the report said.
