Kuria East MP Marwa Kitayama has thrown a big boost to ODM candidate Ochilo Ayacko by insisting he will support him on October 8.

”I have decided to support Ayacko now, going forward to the October 8 by election,’’ the legislator told Migori News.

Kitayama stance ends amid reports doing round in social media and public discourse to the effect that he was supporting Federal Party candidate Eddy Oketch.

”Let everyone speaks for himself. As for me I support Ayacko and I am not mincing words. I am in Jubilee but Ayacko is our best bet senator,’’ said Kitayama.

But Kuria West MP Mathias Robi has declared support for Oketch saying, dividing the 87,000 strong votes along clan lines.

Kitayama has an upper hand between the two as he controls the two biggest clans of Bakira and Nyabasi, while Robi is left with Bagumbe and Bairege.

This comes as Solomon Hodo of (PDP) pulled out of the race at the weekend to back Oketch, as the vote hunt for 87,000 Kuria votes and 388,633 takes shape.

But Kitayama insisted he will ensure Ayacko carries the day in Kuria.

”Nobody should speak or purport to speak on behalf of the Kuria people. Each one’s vote counts independently,’’ said Kitayama.

He claimed that the Kuria community was free to vote for a candidate of their choice but they will not be coerced or forced on whom to vote for or not.

”We want each of the candidates to feel free to hunt for votes here, but what is clear from my conscience is that Ayacko is my candidate and he will win,’’ he said.
