Migori county first lady Hellen Obado launched her Sh8.2million project dubbed Kuku ni Pesa in Migori primary school.
The project will see all 40 wards in the county get incubators and generators with a total of 1,500 eggs each.
“All amount raised through a funds drive in Uriri earlier will be fully utilized and go a long way in offering feeds, capacity building and vaccines to groups,” she said.
Obado said the project is aimed at bridging poverty gap among women in the area.
“Through this initiative, women will be saving from chicken products and this will eventually empower them economically in the region. My intention is to see Migori women move far from poverty to better life,” said Obado.
The event was graced by Cord leader Raila Odinga’s wife Ida.
Three governors from the Lake Basin have agreed helped in raising funds for the project.
