Driver arrested for killing turn-boy

Police in Awendo are holding a driver over the death of his turn-boy.

Ouma Jawuoche, a cane hauling tractor driver is alleged to have killed his turn boy in an accident few minutes after they had left a weighbridge in Ranen.

According to area chief Denis Onyango, the turn boy was riding on the real wheel mud guard when the tractor hit a pot hole and he died instantly.

“He fell down and was crushed to death with the tractor, he died instantly,” Onyango said.

The chief said the driver tried to escape after the incident but was arrested after police and member of the public mounted a search in the nearby sugarcane plantation.

“We found him close to midnight when the tractor was packed in the middle of sugarcane plantation, his friends identified him from the tractor left behind,” Onyango said.

Awendo OCPD Mary Musyoka said the driver was arrested after members of the public and those at the weighbridge conformed that the two had left together.

“He is being held at Awendo police station while the body has been taken to Rosewood Mortuary awaiting postmortem examinations,” Musyoka said.
