Arsonist burn a dormitory at Thim Jope Secondary in Uriri

Itiero Secondary School in Kisii where seven dormitories were burnt down

Police in Uriri sub-county have launched investigations after suspected arsonists burnt a dormitory at Thim Jope Secondary School during dawn preps.

Property of unknown value was reduced to ashes as fire brought down a dormitory with a capacity of 60 students.

All students belongings were also reduced to ashes.

Uriri sub county deputy county commissioner Wilson Kimaiyo said not student wa hurt in the incident as they were in preps.

Uriri OCPD Benjamin Mwanzia said they suspect that the fire was lit by arsonist.

“We are investigating the real cause of fire and we are tracking suspects responsible,” Mwanzia said.

Mwanzia appealed to the locals and the school to help them with any lead information that can enable them arrest suspects.
