14 people escaped death narrowly after a road accident yesterday night at Lwala area in Awendo along the narrow Migori-Kisii highway.

Three victims are recuperating from serious injuries when their private vehicle collided with a PSV vehicle before rolling severally on the road side.

11 passengers who were travelling in the PSV vehicle suffered from minor injuries.

Awendo OCPD Dan Kinyua said the vehicle which was heading to Migori from Awendo lost control and rammed into objects.

“The three victims were taken to Migori county referral hospital where they are still recovering while other eleven passengers who sustained minor injuries

were treated and discharged immediately,” Kinyua said.

Kinyua said they are investigating the cause of accident and urged motorists to take extra care while using the highway to reduce cases of road accidents.

Migori county residents have called on both national and county governments to expand the Migori-Kisii highway to end similar cases of accident.

They said areas like Lwala, Corner Koigi, Uriri, Komolo Rume and Matagaro along the highway are death spots.
