Uriri woman in court for giving police false information

A woman was charged for giving false information to a police officer at the Uriri police station alleging that she was robbed by somebody she knew.

The police officer,Corporal Fidelis Osiepai told the Migori court that the accused Jackline Atieno told him that she had been robbed off Ksh10,000 by Zachariah Motego who she alleged ran away into a hideout.

The court was told that the accused wanted police help arrest Motego for allegedly robbing her money.

Corporal Osiepai explained to court that investigation into the matter revealed the accused had given him false information as the person who she had accused of robbing her money was not in any hideout as she claimed.

He Osiepai was found at his home and explained to the police what happened.

The accused lady appeared before Magistrate M.Wachira and prosecutor Kimandu Waithanju.

She was found guilty for giving false information to the police officer and was released on bail of Ksh5, 000 as the case is set to continue to be heard later.
