All eight constituencies in Migori county will benefit from Sh146.7million after Uwezo fund was officially launched in Nyatike CDF office at Wath Onger on Saturday.

Devolution and Planning PS Peter Mang’iti said that groups should start applying for the loans.

The function was attended by area MP Edick Anyanga and Kuria East MP Shadrack Manga.

Addressing committee members and public from eight constituencies Mang’iti said that all groups which will succeed to get the fund will be trained on how to use the fund.

Mang’iti said that that the fund is yet to allocate allowance and money to run offices for committee holders who he said will have to be patriotic in offering their services until they get allocation.

“We will use the first allocation to collect views for the use of fund to be reviewed via the national assembly,” he said.

Anyanga and his Kuria East counterpart Shadrack Manga challenged groups in Migori to utilize the money allocated and boost business.

“No commercial bank can offer startup money without any interest which the fund is offering to make it viable for youths and women to expand their business,” Anyanga said.

Anyanga said that the fund will be able to transform table banking from small in house meetings to business enterprises that can compete across the globe.

He urged committee members from discrimination when they serve groups and asked them against avoid political, ethnic and religious bias.
