Political leaders have been challenged to take social responsibility to empower youths and school going children instead of burning a lot of energy and money on non issues which does not benefit the general society.

A politician Joseph Ongondo Ngani while conducting a fund raiser for Opapo moto bike youth group association in Rongo sub county, Migori County, said leaders have the responsibility and greater thought to engage the young people as advocates and agents of change.

He noted that a number of youths and children come from very humble and vulnerable background and in dire need of both financial and material support to enable them stay in school and realize their future dreams.

“It doesn’t matter the sphere or field it may be. Youths can spire attitude change that will massively improve not just the quality and standards of living but for the entire society if fully empowered,” Said Ng’ani.

Ng’ani said leaders of tomorrow must be natured today by empowering the youth through quality education so as to fit amicably in the competitive job market saying politicians can use their financial muscles to salvage the declining morals in the society through sensitization of the local communities on the fundamental benefits of acquisition of both academic and technical knowledge.

He urged the youths to explore and use their talents promptly and appropriately for self socio-economical development.

He however cautioned youth’s especially motor bike riders against hooliganism and being used by politicians for selfish gains especially as elections approaches and instead form groups that will facilitate financial savings to help build individual financial base and embrace positive values required for the betterment of societal norms.

On his part, the association chairman Enock Asiyo said they are in the process of professionalizing boda boda operation devoid of the negative public opinion and exposure to misuse by politicians.

He extended an olive branch to the general public to accept them positively in the society discrediting the negative perception that the business is a reserve for rouges whose business is to course mayhem.
