ODM denies demoting Junet

The Orange Democratic Movement.ODM has denied that it has demoted elections director Junet Mohammed from his position.

The party says it was shocked to hear in some sections of the press that its proposals to make changes to its elections body would see the likes of Junet demoted.

In a statement Wednesday, ODM clarified that there will be changes to the electoral body but that they do not mean far reaching changes.

” The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM).wishes to clarify that the National Executive.Committee (NEC) of the party has proposed.that the Directorate of Elections as stated in the.party constitution be changed to the Directorate of Campaigns.

” However, the change of title will not affect the functions and roles of the current office bearer (Hon. Junet Mohammed) and his deputies (Hon. Mishi Mboko, Mr. Bob Njagi and Mr. Daniel Ole Osoi).

“This is contrary to reports appearing in a local daily today claiming that by changing the title, the party has demoted the bearer of the office and the deputies.

” The proposal will be presented to the National Governing Council (NGC) for further deliberations, Oduor Ong’wen, Executive Director ODM said in the press statement.
