Dear MCN,
I seriously need to be heard. I recently spent time, alongside a friend, to design A Proposal on Solid Waste Management for my county of Migori.
I engaged the governor, his office and after a long struggle with red tape, the proposal addressed to the Chief of Environment, Mrs Roselyne Otieno, was stamped received on 7th May 2015 by the Ministry of Environment, National Resources and Disaster Management, and presented to the her.
However, ever since this proposal was received, our attempts to reach the county government officials have remained futile as our phone calls have gone unanswered and visits to their offices unsuccessful. The governor has Never answered our call nor reply to our numerous messages.
I have no doubt in my mind, that the current conversation about Migori MCAs visiting Dubai to “learn” about Waste Management has everything to do with our proposal. We feel duped and that our idea was used to swindle public funds.
It is even more sad that an idea whose main objective was to empower disadvantaged groups, youths and women in Migori county was turned to further corruption and misuse the public funds. #JogoOrushowabwana.
Migori needs to rethink on its financial policies and avoid run away corruption.
waste management is key to any developing institution therefore its within the mandate for the minister in-charge to engage its MCA to attend such important training’s i believe its has a great impact on the other sub counties.in-terms of waste management is concerned.
It’s absurd, Mr. Fred. I even emailed the same document to the acting assembly clerk, ’cause they advertised such proposals. Have I ever received a reply?
