Migori county governor Okoth Obado has requested more partners to come up and improve the level of education in the county.

Speaking while flagging off Equity bank sponsorship “wings to fly” to the bright but needy students, in Awendo town, the governor promise to work with other partners in order to improve the level of education in the county.

“This is one of the ways we can help our students learn and achieve their goals to become the best leaders in this county,” he said.

However the governor appreciated the efforts done by the students and teachers in the county and called them to always work hard to improve the education level.

The governor also pledged his support to the teachers and advised the national government to come to agreement with the teachers to save young Kenyans who are still undergoing education.

“As a former teacher I know what our teachers undergo and we expect them to get solution to their problems soon, I will always be in front to see our teachers get the best treatment they deserve”. He said.

Migori county government has been sponsoring bright but needy students and governor Obado promises to continue with the programme as one of the ways of improving education level in the county.

“We are also giving sponsorship to bright but needy students who have achieved a mean grade of 350 marks and we hope to improve the number yearly.

The county government last year sponsored over 200 students all over the county and the governor says more students may get the chances this year.

Equity bank is giving students across the county full sponsorship and a total of 30 students from Migori have benefited from the sponsorship.

Equity bank manager Samuel Mungai has promised to continue working with the county government in future not only in the education sector but in other areas so as to develop the county.

“We have always got the full support from the county government and we look forward to join hands in different activities that can help us improve this county as a team, it is a collective responsibility,” he said.

Elsewhere in a different event governor Obado warned the public to avoid companies in the county that mistreat them and give them unsatisfied payment to their products.

“We are telling our people to choose and work with the right companies that cooperate with our people, we know our people get problems from different companies.” He added.

Governor Obado further banned Mastermind Company, a company that deals with tobacco products, from performing any duty and its business across the county and advised the famers not to work with the company.

Most of the tobacco farmers in the county have gone through mistreatment from the mastermind tobacco company amidst the governor regular warning.
