Two Police Officers Arrested For Stealing Sh700,000 From Machakos University Students

Two police officers have been arrested for stealing Sh700,000 from two Machakos University students.

A police report seen by Migori News showed that officers at Juja Police Station arrested their colleagues and two other suspects before booking them under OB. No. 107/02/08/2023 at 2334hrs.

Robinson Mogaka, a third year student at Machakos University was driving a rented car registration number KDH 552B, Nissan Note blue in colour from Embu where he had attended a ceremony heading to Machakos.

“On reaching Kenyatta Road in Juja, he was blocked by a white motor vehicle registration number KCX 965B where three men armed with a pistol handcuffed him and abducted him,” the report stated.

The abductors forced him to take him to his friend Abdulrahaman Juma’s house which he did where they seemed they knew they had money and were involved in bitcoin businesses.

The group handcuffed them, and took them to Total Petrol Station in Marurui where they forced them to fuel their vehicle.

“They transferred Kshs 85,000/- from Robbinson phone another USD 4,300 (Ksh612,750) from both complainants through Binance online transaction,” the report said.

Not satisfied by their loot, the group clouded by greed went back to Abdullrahaman’s house before DCI officers laid a trap and arrested them after a tip off.

The two police officers arrested are Corporal Benson Kitheka Mutisya of force number No. 65775 and Police Constable Kennedy Muriuki Gathathu of force number 92001, both stationed DCI Kamukunji DCI offices.

Their two accomplices arrested are Mutenge Mbeti, 36, and Lewis Ndirangu Kariuki, 32.

Kitheka is said to have been arrested while still armed with a Jericho pistol serial number KEKP 44338928 and a pocket phone radio make Huwawei.

“Also detained are two motor vehicles make Toyota Auris reg.no KCX 965B white and Valkwagen Polo reg.no. KCC 501S red in colour,” the report added.

The suspects are held at the station awaiting to be arraigned in court.
