Migori governor has turned his official residence into an annex office after court barred him from accessing his office after facing corruption chargers.

To beat the order, Obado often travel from his rural home in Rapogi, Uriri constituency each morning to his official residence hired by Migori from BAT quarters, only two kilometers away.

The rooms in the bungalow have been turned into offices to host aides and senior county government offices, while the compound is always dotted with tents and red carpet to meet dignitaries and oversee other functions where space is needed.

“We will continue to ensure effective service to our people, we believe all plans will be well implemented,” Obado told a cabinet meeting in his first meeting at the official residence early last month.

His Director of Communication Nicholas Anyuor told Migori News that that the meetings are legal and the governor is law abiding citizen.

“We still have to fulfill our mandate to electorates which is legal and the governor was not barred from doing, that mandate will have to go on,” Anyuor said.

Last week, in a typical day at residence, the governor held a briefing with his top aides and afterwards witnessed the swearing in of county attorney Naomi Matiku in a ceremony presided over by Magistrate Dickson Onyango

He later received a delegation from the East Africa Community and received Sh7milion worth of Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs) donated by European Union through the Kenya Red Cross Society.

“The running and management of staff and his dairy has been left to county secretary Christopher Rusana and Governor’s Office Director of Administration Dominic Akugo to chair,” an aide said.

The aide said the two often brief the governor who ends up to meet the delegation at the site of function or at the office and manage workers and tenders in the county.

Obado has insisted that despite being being barred from accessing his office, he still can serve residents to finish his mandate and with ODM pulling off the impeachment motion last week, the governor has got room to breathe.

H is out on a Sh8.7 million cash bail after denying corruption related charges and was ordered by Chief Magistrate Lawrence Mugambi from accessing Migori county offices until a corruption case is concluded.

He was charged alongside his children, Dan Okoth  a county government staff, Scarlet Okoth, Jerry Okoth and Evelyn Okoth, among close business associates led by Jared Odoyo Kwaga.
