Migori county assembly speaker Gordon Ogolla has claimed that Sony Sugar company is selling cheap imported sugar at the expense of farmers output.

Ogolla made the sensational accusation against the only company in Migori accusing them of stalling harvesting of cane to cheaply import sugar and brand them with Sony Sugar packets.

Ogolla said the top management of Sony Company is behind the sugar importation deal that has undermined the sugar production in Migori County.

“It is unfortunate that farmers have mature sugarcane that cannot be harvested because the company is importing cheap sugar to their store before reselling them to the people,” he said.

He blamed the vice on a board member appointed by President Uhuru Kenyatta recently, terming the official he did not name a “hyena”

“Migori people will not site back and watch the management of Sony Company messing the farmers in the county and beyond,” he insisted.

But speaking on the phone to Migori News, Sony Sugar has refuted the claims through the company Public Relation Officer Zack Irungu.
