Former Migori governor Okoth Obado, his family members and allies are set to appear physically in court over Sh2billion graft case.

Senior principal magistrate Victor Wakumile said all parties will appear in court physically on May 31 to take hearing dates.

Wakumile took over the case from former magistrate now Judge Lawrence Mugambi who was hearing the case before he was promoted.

A national paper said the case was mentioned virtually before the court for dates but proceedings were still being typed after being written by Mugambi.

Already Obado is also set to appear in court for hearing on a murder case over the death of his girlfriend Sharon Otieno and their unborn child alongside his aides.

The new dates will be picked as the case has been partly heard.

There was a light moment during the virtual hearing when one of the accused person said in dholuo ‘Antie’ instead of using English or Swahili to say they were present.

The former Migori governor, his family and associates are facing a Sh2.7 billion corruption case.

Obado was charged alongside his four children in 2020 with conspiracy to defraud the county government of Migori.

All accused persons denied the charges before court.
