The prosecution has lined out 42 witnesses, including those on protection against Migori governor Okoth Obado and his two aides for the murder of Sharon Otieno and her unborn baby.

The Office of Director of Public Prosecution through their twitter account said the hearing date will be set for November 11 this year.

“The trial starts on 11/11/2019 with special hearings on 2nd & 3rd Dec 2019 when protected witnesses will testify,” the tweet read.

There are only two protected witnesses in the case.

Prosecution said they are ready for trial of Obado, his former personal assistant Michael Oyamo & former Migori county government clerk Caspal Obiero for the murder charges.

Prosecutor Catherine Mwaniki said they will be ready to avail oral, documentary and electronic evidence in the case.

Obado and his co-accused took plea in September last year where they denied killing Sharon and her seven-month unborn baby.

They denied the charges before judge Jessie Lesiit who released the Governor on a cash bail of Sh5million and two sureties of Sh5million each.

Obiero and Oyamo were freed on a cash bail of Sh1million each or an alternative bond of Sh2 million each.

26-year-old Sharon Otieno went missing on September 3 last year and was found dead two days later near Kodera Forest in Homa Bay County.

A  post-mortem conducted on her body revealed she was stabbed eight times, strangled and raped.

Otieno and Obado had been in a relationship which bore the unborn child.
