Migori county education stakeholders have defended Education Cabinet Secretary George Magoha over calls for him to be sacked.

Stakeholders told Migori News that as a senior cabinet secretary from Nyanza region and the Luo commumity, they stand with Magoha who hails from Siaya county.

They called on President Uhuru Kenyatta not to sack him insisting that Magoha may have his shortcoming as an individual, but being fired is extreme.

“Magoha as an individual may be abrasive, but as a cabinet minister and administrator he has delivered policies in the ministry,” Peter Odondi, National Parents Association Migori chapter said.

Odondi said when he inherited the ministry, he ensured the Competency Based Curriculum was rolled out and books sent to schools.

“We are satisfied with his performance, he is a good performer but his should swallow his pride and apologise since one wrong can’t undo what he has done,” Odondi said.

His sentiments were shared by Migori Knut secretary Caleb Opondi who said those calling for Magoha to be fired had gone to the extreme.

The two said Magoha also managed to streamline free education funds and included public administrators like chiefs and their assistants to ensure 100 per cent transition, a first.

Magoha called a junior staff as “idiot” after he was captured insulting an Uasin Gishu director of Education Gitonga Mbaka, calling his stupid.
