Migori county residents have a thing to celebrate after local Agricultural Society of Kenya show elevated from satellite to branch status.

It is the 16th branch nationally and was launched during a ceremony carried out at the ASK grounds in Lichota Farm in the outskirts if Migori town.

National ASK Vice Chairman Charles Owele presided over the launch and said good management and integrity in finances have helped in having the branch.

In Nyanza only Kisii, Migori and Kisumu have ASK branches.

He said the first project as a branch will be to fence the 35 acres Lichota grounds as other counties have had their grounds changed into golf courses of being grabbed.

“The decision to bring on the new branch followed availability of land and past performance where revenue increased to Sh2.6million last year,” Owele said.

The new site is only a year old after being moved from Migori county stadium and is strategically placed next to Tanzania border, next to future county headquarters, a stadium and airstrip.

Migori branch chairman Omune Ong’ono they will “seek a new manager as we have been relying on a manager from Kisii branch while we were a satellite branch.”

Manuel Odeny, the Star journalist in the county and publicity committee chairman said as a branch they will spearhead a massive member registration branch.
