Kopiyo fully in UDA as he hosts Ruto, TangaTanga brigade in Awendo town on Saturday

Immediate former Awendo MP Jared Kopiyo has officially crossed over to the United Democratic Alliance party associated with Deputy President William Ruto.

Only days after he greeted Ruto at his office as shared by Eliud Owalo, the TangaTanga Nyanza pointman the team issued a banner complete with a photo of Kopiyo shaking hands with Ruto over Saturday visit.

Ruto is expected to hold a funds drive at Awendo Central SDA church and later address a rally in Migori town.

“We know Kopiyo is already fully in our camp and we plan to take Nyanza by storm as the region is tired of always voting for the same man who has never been a president,” Kuria West MP Mathias Robi said.

Robi said apart from Awendo meeting, they will ensure the Nyanza region swings in towards Ruto’s turf against believes that Migori and the region is solidly behind ODM leader Raila Odinga.

“I will arrive with Ruto from Nairobi with a chopper and we will be received by Kopiyo and other leaders allied to United Democratic Alliance in Migori and Nyanza region, we plan to address the crowd after the funds drive or a major greeting of people in Awendo town,” Robi said.

Kopiyo is currently the Migori County Public Service Board Chairman, haveing been appointed by governor Okoth Obado who is the leading ati-ODM face in Nyanza.

Earlier, Kopiyo tried to downplay the move to a statement to a section of the press.

“I was just greeting and saying hi to Deputy President William Ruto, and not as Owalo placed it on social media. I have not joined UDA, neither am I a member of ODM and it’s too early to offer my political direction right now ahead of 2022 general elections. I will do so at opportune time,” former Awendo MP Jared Kopiyo
