Migori political pundits have blamed ODM political dynamics in Suna East constituency for pushing two key allies to rival parties ahead of 2022 general elections.

Suna East MP Junet Mohammed, currently serving his second term with indication he will attempt a third stab, has been sitting in ODM executive council and has the ears of ODM leader Raila Odinga which has seen most leaders from the area fleeing away.

Within a month, Amani National Congress had, Suna East MP 2017 aspirant Patrick Odipo take oath of office alongside his party leader Musalia Mudavadi.

Immediate former Migori speaker Gordon Ogola who hails from Kwa Ward is said to be gearing up to take a similar position and other key ones in KANU party under Baringo senator Gideon Moi..

Both Ogola and Odipo will take key roles in Moi and Mudavadi presidential bids in 2022, getting a voice right in the backyard of ODM stronghold.

Joseph Nyambori, the Migori county ODM organising secretary told Migori News the two moves should send a warning signal to the orange party.

“Have this two senior politician leaving ODM for our rivals is a clear indicator that they were never given any chance and space in our house, as Junet has made it hard for other politicians to fight for their space in the party, leave alone the constituency” Nyambori said.

He said the two, after failing to gain any relevance in the party stand to get more clout through business opportunities, nominations and interests in their new roles.

“We always have a fallout as a party during nominations which are bungled, we are happy Prof. Catherine Mumma who led a task force to revive the party is now the National Elections Board chair,” Nyambori said.

But county ODM chairman Philip Makabong’o downplayed Ogola and Odipo’s move, saying it was inconsequential on popularity of the orange party.

“The two have been organising delegates and aspirant meetings in Migori and the region for a long time before their appointments. We are not afraid and look forward to the next grass root elections for leadership to root others, and those close to DP William Ruto out,” he said.

Kisii University lecturer Nick Oluoch said because of Junet’s national popularity those who go against him will alternatively get national slots and the party should consider preventing a fallout either through nomination or state appointments in areas with ‘strong leaders.’

“We had Caroli Omondi, a former Raila ally who comes from chairman John Mbadi backyard move out. Even Jubilee Secretary General Raphael Tuju who hails from Raila backyard is shining politically because he is from shadow of giants, that is the same with Suna East,” he said.
