The country is holding is breath and politicians going out in full campaign mood as the biggest party north of river Limpopo and South of Sahara, ODM will hold their primaries next month.

Migori county will hold the primaries on April 19, with the exercise being a major precursor on who will be likely win the August 8 polls.

ODM National Elections Board chairman Judy Pareno has said they already have a list of several incumbent leaders across the country will be handed over the nomination certificate unopposed, sadly no Migori county politician is making the list.

To begin governor Wycliffe Oparanya (Kakamega), James Ongwae (Kisii), Amason Kingi (Kilifi), Hassan Joho (Mombasa), Josphat Nanok (Turkana) and Evans Kidero (Nairobi) are yet to get any rivals for the ticket.

“We are still compiling the list to be presented to the IEBC, but some leaders do not have competitors in the primaries,” Pareno told a local daily.

While the governors will face other aspirants in August 8 polls, they are sleeping pretty as they don’t have nomination headache.

In Migori county, Okoth Obado is already having sleepless nights with former Rongo MP Ochilo Ayacko, Nyatike’s Anne Anyanga are giving him sleepless nights. Others are Uriri politician Mark Nyamita, Paul Odola and George Oywer who is losing steam before primaries.

Other lucky leaders are ODM national treasurer Timothy Bosire (Kitutu Masaba MP) and Homa Bay woman representative Gladys Wanga.

While Wanga is smiling, partly because of her impeccable development record in managing the affirmative action fund, her Migori counterpart Dennitah Ghati is facing an onslaught on ODM primaries.

Fatuma “Full Network” Mohammed, Pamela Odhiambo, Doreen Inda, Mary Owino, Roseline Ohanya Seko among others are keen in sending her home.
