Funeral program stalls as Junet, aspirant clash

Drama unfolded last evening at a funeral in Nyabisawa Village, Suna East constituency after area MP Junet Mohammed and an aspirant clashed in public.

Church members and the family of Mzee Musa Angira Angira were forced to forego the funeral programme and bury the body and leave politicians to clash.

Hezron Ondigo Onyango irked Junet and his supporters when he challenged the legislator to point out projects he had implemented since he was elected or else he forgets any elected position in Migori County.

Onyango insisted that when Junet stands to address the constituents, he must categorically show his results instead of hiring flights every time in the expense of the constituents.

“I want to tell you that Junet will never succeed in Suna East again,’ Onyango told youths who cut short his speech by switching off the microphone when he refused to stop attacking the legislator.

The programme was interrupted for a couple of minutes as Onyango was escorted off by family members.

Angry church members wanted to cart away their public address system to leave politicians alone with their supporters.

“Church members and the family should please move to the graveside to give Angira his last respect. We are saddened by this show of utter disrespect,” a clergy said.
It called for the intervention of Junet, another aspirant Patrick and area Kakrao MCA Joe Jacks Gucha to calm the situation.

Leaders who spoke afterwards said even though Onyango had his democratic right of speech, it was inappropriate to directly attack the MP on the allegations of incompetency.

Junet however called for calm and support urging those eyeing his seat to be ready for a polling battle in 2017 elections saying Onyango was “a nursery school teacher at Sony Sugar Academy” who can’t unseat him.
