Former Kehancha mayor Joseph Chacha laud Ruto, two Kuria MPs for Sh2.2billion water project in region

Former Kehancha mayor Joseph Chacha has lauded president William Ruto for the Sh2.2billion water project that will benefit the region.

Chacha, who represented Kuria West MP Mathias Robi during a public participation in Kehancha town on Thursday said the legislator and his Kuria East counterpart Marwa Kitayama placed key role in the project.

“We want to say thanks to MP Robi who sits on the budget committee and MP Kitayama at water committee for this gesture, above all we thank the president,” Chacha said.

He said as leaders they will bridge political divide and ensure the project is done on time to benefit all residents of the region.

On Thursday, the Lake Victoria South Water Services Board held a public participation in Kehancha town in Kuria West constituency which will benefit from Sh600million water and sanitation project.

On Friday the board also carried out similar exercise in Kegonga town in Kuria East sub-county where there will be six clusters in area will benefit from Sh1.6billion project.

Paul Agwanda an engineer at the board said the projects will be key in putting up number of Migori residents who have access to clean water from the current 38 per cent which is below national rates.

He said in Kehancha project, water will be drawn from River Tebesi and treated to produce 6,000 metric liters per day which will be pumped about seven kilometers in the town.

Currently the town of about 30,000 people requires about 4,500 metric liters of water a day where only less than 5 per cent can be supplied in piped water.
