By MN Reporter

John Okinda the presiding bishop of Pefa Kenya churches and the Vice Chairman of National Council of Churches Kenya (NCCK) has said dialogue is the safest way to bring sanity in Kenya.

He said the church and religious leaders are ready to offer a truce between President William Ruto and opposition leader Raila Odinga, a bishop has said.

Okinda, in a press conference in Migori town said “as members of the clergy, We hereby affirm that we are ready to mediate for the realization of peace on our beloved land as mandated of us by the holy scriptures.”

He said the two leaders should rise up as statesmen and desist from fueling inflammatory remarks from their die hard supporters who have been issuing inflammatory remarks.

“The division in the country largely occasioned by the political differences between the two, we implore them to embrace statesmanship thereby putting the Nation First before any interests or individual,” he said.

He said as clergy they have been facing prayer requests from most Kenyans on high cost of living and inflation, calling on President William Ruto not to ignore that aspect.

“We as the Clergy have noted that in deed our beloved land of Kenya is not headed in the right direction in this very regard,” Okinda said.
