Awendo sub-county on Friday stormed Awendo police station to raise issues with area politicians for insecurity.

They had peaceful demonstrations carrying placards within town and demanded for the removal of Awendo OCPD and the OCS for failure of handling insecurity caused by politicians.

Nicholous Otieno, said he reported an incident where he was assaulted by suspects he knew four days ago and no arrest has been made.

“Insecurity in Awendo is caused by politicians who still believe the only way to get to power is by killing their opponents,” Otieno said.

He said currently politicians strategizing on 2017 elections have been struggling to help transfer and appoint security chiefs in the area to control them.

“Politicians have previously lobbied for the removal of some police officers for not taking orders from them despite having good work track records,” he said.

Samuel Onyango said political wangles have seen many youths being stabbed by politicians creating security threat.

Awendo police boss Daniel Kinywa who addressed demonstrators promised more police patrols and vigilance to end insecurity.
