Burundian Refugee Found Dead By A Roadside In Kenya After Leaving Tanzania

Kenya police have launched investigations over sudden death of a Burundian refugee who had crossed in the country from Tanzania.

Villagers at Nyamaharaga village in Migori county, several kilometers from Taznaia found the body beside the Isebania-Komomwamu road and alerted the police.

Kuria West police boss Cleti Kimaiyo said the “body had no visible injuries, we found Burundian identification card bearing the name H Abonimana Paul.”

Complete items found on the body were:

  • One Tecno Button Phone, Black in colour
  • Burundi Public Identification Document bearing the name H. ABONIMANA PAUL
  • Two pieces of raw cassava
  • Immigration document bearing Tanzania stamp dated 03/06/2023
  • A travel ticket of Levado Trans Bus Company with name Paulo dated 08/06/2023.

Kimaiyo said the body was moved to Migori Referral hospital for autopsy and further investigations
