Migori county government has vowed to reverse a zero score on budget transparency which started in 2020 under former governor Okoth Obado tenure.

In the latest ‘Kenya County Budget Transparency Survey 2022’ by International Right Partnership, Migori was placed alongside Isiolo, Kajiado and Wajir among the counties with least transparent budgets.

On the brighter side West Pokot, Makueni, Kwale, Kitui and Nyeri counties shone.

“Migori was placed on the list because an audit for on the budget showed the process and implementation was not made public especially on their website,” Francis Namuju lake region budget hub coordinator said.

Migori county Finance and Economic Planning Executive Maurice Otunga and South Kanyamkago MCA and Budget and Appropriation Committee chair Graham Kagali vowed to reverse the trend.

They said the negative score was inherited from previous administration and already they have availed all documents in the county website.

They also said budget making process has been smooth.

They were speaking in Migori town during a workshop organised by Rapado Kenya.
