The new Migori county public service board will be mandated to bring into force a human resource audit report that unearthed ghost workers and a leaking payroll.

On Tuesday, the new board chaired by David Ocholla took office and were welcomed by county secretary Oscar Olima.

The new board takes over from the last one which was headed by Jared Kopiyo after they were impeached by county assembly over corruption and improper employment.

Kopiyo and his embattled tried severally to seek court orders blocking their ouster on February.

“For a few months we had back and forth in establishing this board, but now all matters related to human resource management that were put on hold can be done,” Olima said.

Here is the names of the complete board.

  • Eng. David Odhiambo Ocholla- Chairperson
  • Dr. Menge William Suley- Member
  • George Jobando- Member
  • Dr. Olgha Adede- Member
  • Dorcas Oyugi- Member
  • Azariah Enos Gowa- Member

“The first task of the board will be to clean the payroll and staff of any irregularities within the workforce and review other changes,” Olima said.

Olima and Ocholla said they will be keen on starting off recruitment, promotions, redesignation and disciplinary control of the public service.

On November a human resource audit by governor Ochillo Ayacko found that Migori has been losing Sh60m annually to ghost workers and discrepancy in the payroll.

The audit by the Institute of Human Resource Management was contracted by the county government to audit the workforce and showed a monthly disparity Sh120m to Sh200m in payroll.
