Kuria West constituency made a mistake by electing the trigger happy legislators Mathias Robi, a politician has said.

Mogendi Sahia, who vied severally in the last polls for the constituency said recent remarks by Robi that Kenyans taking parts in demonstrations should be shot was irresponsible.

Speaking during a social function in the constituency, Sahia said Robi’s statement was reckless bearing in mind that police recently shot six people in Isebania town while demonstrating against runaway insecurity.

“We should live according to the law and as a former police officer we have been mandated to only use live bullets when officers’ lives are in danger, that is clear in the law and I wonder why the legislators cant see this,” Sahia said.

He said even though Robi’s statements was targeted against Azimio la Umoja supporters of Raila Odinga in recent anti-government protests it still showed a careless leader who should be voted out of office in next elections.

“We made a mistake by having this man as our legislator, but I want to tell the constituency I am ready to offer alternative leadership,” Sahia said.

He said police shot a demonstrator nine times and several were killed showing hard stance by leaders like Robi will take the country down the drain.

“Police brutality by Ruto’s government is wanting, we need unity as a country in the country as Kenyans should work together and statements from people like Robi are uncalled for,” he said.

He said he was ready to take over the constituency leadership in the next polls.
