(VIDEO) Hon Mwita: With Sweet Potato Factory, Ten Roads, Hospitals Upgrade Masaba Ward Is Shining After Polls

Masaba MCA Clackson Mohono Mwita has said despite a short period since the August 9 polls and dealing with an ongoing budget year, the ward has benefited a lot.

Mwita, in an interview with Migori News (posted in our TV channel on YouTube) said about ten months ago he came in and found a financial budget halfway through but managed to factor the ward in a supplementary budget.

“We came in after a budget was factor by the past administration and I have managed to push through several projects,” Mwita said.

He said his biggest milestone is opening of the Migori Sweet Potato processing plant which had stalled for long and a supplementary budget had to be made to kick start it.

“This is the biggest game change as the plant which will cover South Nyanza counties is found in my ward at Getong’anya center and this is a big plus to offer employment and uplift farmers not only in the ward but across the region,” he said.

He said so far he has managed to maintain and gravel the following roads:

  • Nyanchabo- Getong’anya
  • Nyachabo- Rongabi- Ngisuru
  • Nyamagagana- Korobunyinge
  • Korobunyinge- Kurutyange
  • Komasimo- Ikerege
  • Kombe Juakali- Kamatundi- Chonjo Chonjo
  • Ndamukia- Kurutyange- Naora
  • Masaba market feeder roads
  • Main road- Masaba Health center
  • Bohorera- Nyamararangere- Nyaweitanchiria
  • Bohorera- Gekamiri
  • Bridge connecting Masaba and Gekamiri villages for the first time

In health and sanitation Mwita said he has done the following projects:

  • Renovation of Masaba health center, Installing of 10,000 liters water tank and a modern lavatory with pit, urinal and bathrooms
  • Installation Kohanga water borehole which will supply water for 3-4kilometers
  • Nyamagagana Dispensary six door latrine

He also added three bpda boda shades three have been built at Onyalo Biro, Nyanchabo and Kurutyange stages.

“In education we have offered bursaries to several needy students and we are vetting for needy students for full governor scholarship,” Mwita said.

Mwita said when he was elected Ntyange Polytechnic had only four students but the recent move to offer bursaries to students and community mobilisation “has seen the number rise to over 200 students and we will improve infrastructure there.”

He lauded governor Ochillo Ayacko for offering a listening ear to other elected leaders in the county to help spur development.
