All children aged 12 will have a mandatory COVID-19 vaccine jab in Migori county.
County health department said they have integrated COVID-19 vaccination into existing immunization programs in a bid to enhance sustainability and help increase uptake of the vaccine.
This will start from dispensary level, the county Health Promotion Officer James Oguk said. He said Migori has only reached a target of 58.97 per cent in terms of COVID-19 vaccination, Suna East sub-county accounts for 83 per cent of the jabs.
Rongo was second in the vaccine uptake with 77. 92 per cent followed by Uriri(71.95), Awendo(68.76), Nyatike(62.33), Suna West(55.73), Kuria East(32.46) and Kuria West recording the lowest number of people getting vaccinated at 30.29.
In Migori, over 2, 000 had COVID-19 with about 10 succumbing to the disease.
