Uriri residents arrest police officer for soliciting bribes from chang’aa brewers

Angry South East Kanyamkago location residents in Uriri sub-county arrested a police officer found trying to solicit bribe from a local chang’a brewers.

The police officer whose particulars are yet to be revealed is attached at Mariwa Administration police post.

Residents said they followed the officer movement keenly to the home of the brewer before they arrested him and handed him over to the police at Uriri police station..

South East Kanyamkago location chief John Manyala confirmed the incident.

He said the officer has been spotted severally seeking bribes from the brewer.

“The public have been curious about his visit till today when the public arrested him,” Manyala said.

He added that the officer was dressed in civilian clothes and claimed that he came to buy chicken from the family.

Residents have blamed police for thwarting fight against illicit brew in the area by colluding with brewers.
