Uriri constituency aspirant Omondi Gwonyo has lent a helping hand to a staunch Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) supporter in Migori County after she appealed to party leaders to help her out.

Gwonyo reached out to Rosa Achieng’ at her residence in Nyangubo in Oruba estate in Migori town after her plight was aired by members of the press.

The flamboyant politicians bought an assortment of household goods to help sustain the elderly woman for this month.

“I came to see how Mama Party is living and as an African custom, we had to carry something for you,” Gwonyo told the seemingly happy woman.

Gwonyo who paid the woman’s rent for the next five months said a lot of good things were in store for the Achieng’

“I understand that you are undergoing several challenges, ODM as a party has lined up a lot of good things with several people willing to help you,” Gwonyo explained.

The 63 year old ODM die-hard who currently lives in a deplorable state reached out to party leaders to help her out.
Achieng’ Siste appealed to ODM leaders to help her secure land and build her a house as she had no family after her divorce in 1983 because she failed to give birth.

“I still rent a house for Sh1, 000 per month which I find hard to pay as I have to weed to get money. I live in abject poverty despite supporting the party for long time, my only plea to party leaders is to help me get a house and where I can be laid when I will die. I have no family members left as all of them have long died,” Achieng’ said amid sobs.

She said attempts to get enlisted on beneficiaries of elderly funds by Suna West MP Joseph Ndiege have flopped as

“she is an outsider from Uyoma and not a Suna clan resident.”

Mama party as she is famously known in an earlier interview said she has been supporting the Odinga family political path since the doyen of politics Oginga Odinga joined the multiparty politics in 1992.

The staunch supporter of Cord leader Raila Odinga who has been gracing party rallies and functions with colourful attire has asked the arty to help her build a house.
