Police on Sunday evening shot dead two suspected robbers in a foiled robbery attempt at Allaxis Hotel within Migori town.

“Upon receiving Intelligence on a planned robbery at Allaxis hotel located along Migori-Rongo road, @DCI_Kenya detectives based in the area laid an ambush where six suspected robbers on board motorcycles arrived ready for the planned mission,” police said on twitter.

In ensuing gun fight, two suspects were fatally injured but the rest escaped with gunshot wounds.

“A DCI detective was also shot on the right shoulder and is currently receiving treatment and in stable condition,” the tweet added.

One AK 47 Rifle loaded with 16 rounds of ammunition, a torch, a rungu among other items were recovered. Pursuit for the escaped suspects is ongoing.
