Two Pandpieri residents within Migori town die in rain storm

Residents of Pandpieri estate in Migori are mourning two people that were killed during a heavy storm Monday evening.

A 53 year old man identified as Chacha and a 6 year old minor were killed during a raging storm that hit Migori town and its environs rendering several residents homeless.

According to an eye witness, Chacha was hit by a roof that was being blown away seriously injuring him.

“Chacha was going out to check how bad the storm was when the roof hit him, ” said Vincent Mwekeba, the victims brother.

The six year old is also reported to have been getting out of their house as it caving in when he was hit.
Another resident Dan Ochieng’ said they rushed the victims to Migori county referral hospital but it was too late.

“The two were pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital,” Ochieng’ said.

An inconsolable Grace Atieno, mother to the minor said she was away on business when the ordeal struck.

“I received a call about the incident but when I got to the hospital my son was had died, ” Atieno said amid sobs.

Area residents brought down the house that led to the two deaths it’s walls posed danger as rains continue to pound the area.

They also appealed to the county government to support the bereaved families and those that had been rendered homeless.
