A number of Kenyan trucks are under Tanzania border police custody after the drivers passed the Isebania border to Tanzania to offload goods.

According to the drivers, 100 tracks are under Tanzania border security custody and they are therefore appealing to both Kenya and Tanzania presidents to unlock the stalemate.

Patrick Songa, a Truck driver from SPINICH Company in Nakuru told Migori News he has been forced to wait from June 2.

“They claim they can’t trust the test we gave when we entered the country, so they wont allow us to leave,” he said.

Songa reported that the immigration officers do not even allow them to sleep inside their trucks but instead instruct them to sleep under the truck.

“We have spent all the money we were given by our bosses, we are living as destitute in a foreign country,” Songa said.

Millicent Achieng, a truck owner, said most traders are servicing loans.

“We have been treated rudely, with some officials across the border telling us to first tell President Uhuru Kenyatta to apologise to Tanzanians over Covid 19 before the trucks are released,’ she said.

Yahya Aden, clearing agent at Isebania border said they have been affected in their job.

However, the KRA station manager Isebania Richard Kibor confirmed the incident.
