Migori county residents have called on the county government to have all unfinished projects done in this financial year.
They said that despite allocations made for those projects many of them are sub-standard and incomplete.

Some of the projects that were cited by the residents to have stuck includes, construction of ECDE classrooms in various schools, putting up water projects and building of health facilities among other projects.

They have challenged the governor to ensure it delivers it promise to the people and have all marked projects completed before next polls.

Speaking over the weekend in Rongo town during the consultative meeting with the county government officials involving business communities, contractors and the public ,Odhoch said that Migori county have several business opportunity which have not been exploited because of failure of its governance to invest on necessary infrastructural projects facilities.

Odhoch commended the move taken by the county government in reaching out the locals saying residents would find it the best method in dealing with the challenges affecting the common mwananchi.

He urged the governor to take action on the leaders and contractors who mismanage project funds for selfish gains and later put blame on the county government for its minimal allocation or not releasing the funds in time.

This comes barely two months after Migori Contractors Association put to task the county government to move with speed and pay them Sh133.9million amount in arrears after several botched meeting between them and contractors.

On his part, the director in the office of the governor Domnic Akugo who represented the governor during the meeting said already they have received complaints from the citizens over the quality of projects done by county government, saying all executives from various departments have been instructed to form a social audit forum between the locals and contractors to monitor the situation of those projects.

“We always aspire for the best to our people. From now will not pay any money or start a new project until you citizens give a clean bill of health on these projects,” Akugo reiterated.

He said there is need to organize training for business people in the entire county to create a platform for entrepreneurial skills sharing insisting that it will open doors for new business ideas.

He projected the lack of exposure among business people in the region that has undermined trade industry saying that majority of business people are investing in minor businesses while leaving other lucrative commercial opportunities because they lack relevant information.
