Sori man killed in gambling pledge gone sour

A man died and other nursing injuries after a fight following a gambling agreement gone sore in Sori, Nyatike sub-county.

Nashon Ouma had gone to pick a phone at 6pm on Thursday from the suspected murderer David Otieno when a fight ensured..

According to the area Chief George Okoth, the deceased confronted Otieno at his home with two sharp pangas and threatened to kill him if he did not give him a phone, the grant price, agreed earlier.

“Ouma resorted to attack his opponent injuring him on the right collar bone and broke his knee cap. The deceased was however overpowered and had a deep panga cut that tore his right hand blood vessel,” the public administrator said.

Confirming the incident Nyatike OCPD Dishon Chebaka said the deceased was rushed to St. Carmilus hospital where he bled profusely and was pronounced dead few minutes later.

“The body of the deceased has been preserved at St. Carmilus hospital mortuary,” the police boss said.

Chebaka said the survivor was also admitted at the same hospital and is in a critical condition as police continue with their investigation.

The police boss asked the public not to follow due process in demanding for debts lest they face the consequences of the law.
