Six armed police officers from Awendo stole tither and offering from Ranen Got SDA church in bizarre case of police impunity.

Awendo police boss Mary Musyoka said the church is yet to officially report the incident to help in investigations, as “the claims was only rad in the media.”

Church members embarked on special prayers for the officers according to church’s pastor, Jack Oyungu.

He said the officers found five church officials in the church counting and tabulating weekly donation from the just concluded week of prayer, and pounced on them.

“There was no church service as instructed by government, the five were official who were counting tithe and offering from members in basins when the officers came in,” Oyungu said.

The pastor said officials had maintained social distance, had face masks on when they were attacked.

“I was in my house which is in the church compound, when I heard the commotion I went to check and the officer threatened to arrest me when I asked why they were harassing people inside the church,” Oyungu said.

The officers took Sh35,000 which had been counted, and other unknown amount which was in tithes and offering baskets and arrested the officials leaving the pastor dumbfounded in the compound.

“Three hundred meters they left the officials took about Sh6,000 from church, returned the rest before going away,” Oyungu said.
