Migori town woke up in shock earlier at dawn following the murder of a political activist Tony Obondo after he was stabbed at dawn.

Obondo was stabbed in the stomach after a political brawl at Apida estate.

Obondo was based in Suna East constituency although he hails from East Kanyamkago ward in Uriri and was a key supporter of Migori governor aspirant Anne Omodho Anyanga.

Roy Obwanga, a friend, said they had just arrived from Nairobi after escorting Nyatike MP Edick Anyanga for an official visit in United Kingdom and was shocked by the death.

“We were in town until late when a political brawl ensued in town which brought fracas. I tried to persuade him to leave but he refused. We left him behind and when we came to check on him we found him dead,” Obwanga said.

David Kirui, the Migori county police commandant said the deceased was attacked following a personal differences and have launched investigations to ascertain of politics was behind his murder.

Scenes of grief stricken engulfed Migori county referral mortuary as friends, Orange Democratic Movement politicians and family members thronged to pay their last respects.
