Migori police have impounded bhang worth Sh3.7million at Stella road block along the busy Isebania-Kisii highway.

A suspect, Juma Brian Melly was arrested and his motorbike impounded as he was transporting 370Kg from Tanzania.

Migori OCPD Area police boss Joshua Opiyo said that the suspect packed the haul in sacks and tried to pass the road block.

“He chose to use a motorbike as police often search vehicles but not motorbikes. But officers noticed him behaving suspiciously when approaching them and stopped him,” he said.

Opiyo said the drugs was found after officers inspected the sack.

Tanzania is a source of cheap bhang which is cultivated in large scale before being sold in Kenya through Migori
county to as far as Nairobi, Kisumu and Mombasa.
